Essay: The Importance of Library

In education world, reading is so essential for students. Like a proverb "Reading is window of knowledge". From this case, library is suitable place to contain books for reading, there are so many books which can be read and also available about knowledge that we need. Nowadays, we know that reading interest in Indonesia is still in low level compared with other countries. By availability of library, the government especially in educational field wants the reading interest of students and mass can increase. This way is one of steps to making educational quality of country be better. It proves that library is so important. In side to increase the reading interest, it's also can be place to find about knowledge and be reference place to collect sources.

‌Research with title "Most Littered Nation in the World" by Central Connecticut State University in March 2016 proved that the reading interest of Indonesia was on 60^th from 61 countries which researched. (taken from kompasiana.com)

It is meant that Indonesia is under Thailand and above of Botswana. From this case, role of library is so needed as medium to increase the reading interest of students and mass. The government especially in educational field also has given its contribution to make educational quality be better by providing education needs, one of them is by empowerment of library.

‌In additional, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Puan Maharani said how to increase reading interest,how to attract them to read,so it could not be forced to read, but we did not provide facilities for these books. Not only that, in the midst of the low literacy of the Indonesian people, libraries inevitably had to be able to take the right role. In side to providing reading resources to explore information and knowledge, the library can also be a place for various literacy-based training and skills activities. The aim was for socio-economic empowerment of society. This was revealed in the National Library building, Jakarta, Monday (3/26/2018).

‌Library also can be place to find knowledge. As we know, in the library, there are many books which can be read by free. There, books are arranged neatly on the shelf according to the content. It's like a rice barn full with rice. When in the library, someone will surely be full of knowledge. Sometimes, there are also training and book fairs. This really makes us get so much knowledge and social experience. Not only that, library also can be reference place to collect sources. Based on my experiences, when I got an assignments from my lecturer, I would go to library to find sources to support my assignment. In side the place is so comfortable, it's also free.

‌So, based on the arguments above, we can conclude that library is so important especially in educational field look at the benefits which gotten. Library as medium to increase the reading interest of students and mass and it also be place to find about knowledge and be reference place to collect sources.
